A relic from the past: this dilapidated lifeguard chair still sits on guard for memories of the past, alone just off a trail on Cape Cod, there are some among us who will remember sitting on it, talking to people sitting on it, or just recalling how it served as a point of safety as they enjoyed the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
We often see the old among us, people, places, things, and rarely give thought to them in their prime.
Who knows how long this will stand guard, the metal front right leg just about rusted away. I’m hoping next time I visit it will still be there. We replace everything with new, but new cannot stir memories of the past, and if we hold on to those memories, we understand we have enjoyed many things on our journeys through life.
