The Origins of Velcro!

Anyone walking through the brush and encountering this Burr knows it’s is a major inconvenience. They stick to your clothing and are hard to get off.
In 1948, one man became fascinated with these Burrs, and began studying them under a microscope, wondering if there could be another use for them.
His name was George de Mestral, and after eight years of work, he invented what is now known as Velcro, designing it from the burr he encountered while hiking!
Notice the small, knitting-like loops or hooks at their endings.
